The 2009 college football season starts in less than 250 days! Time to start prepping for that fantasy draft! Okay, maybe not. But it’s always fun to take a look ahead (or in this case, WAY AHEAD), so we present to you our “Way Too Early” 2009 fantasy QB rankings.
Houston gunslinger Case Keenum tops our QB board for 2009. Keenum
(photo, Icon SMI) passed for 5,020 yards and 44 TD’s on the season, while also rushing for 225 yards and 7 TD’s. And he was only a sophomore in 2008. We expect him to put together another spectacular year in ‘09.
See our 2009 QB rankings after the jump...
Before we get to the rankings, let us explain how we compiled them. The pool of players used includes ALL UNDERCLASSMEN. So, we did include players that are likely to leave school early for the NFL (Sam Bradford, Nate Davis, etc.). As these players officially declare their intentions, we’ll adjust our rankings accordingly. Also, we did throw in a few players who *could* be in line for starting jobs next year (Tulsa’s Jacob Bower, Missouri’s Blaine Gabbert, Rice’s Nick Fanuzzi, etc.). We realize these players will be in QB battles from Spring practice through August camp, but gave it our best guess for now.
We will go into a much more detailed analysis on these rankings in the coming months. The list will be tweaked countless times from now up until the 2009 kickoff in late August.
It’s been a wacky holiday season with too much egg nog, so if we neglected to list anyone blatant please let us know.
