I continue to profile the NFL Draft RB prospects with UConn’s Donald Brown.  Brown more than matched his combined 2006 & 2007 production last year running for 2083 yards, which led the nation, on 367 carries (5.7 ypc) and 18 TDs.  He added 21 receptions out of the backfield for 125 yards.  He was a monster in the International Bowl running for 261 yards and a score on 29 carries in a 38-20 Win.  He also ran for 214 yards vs. Temple, 206 vs. Virginia, 190 vs. Louisville, and 189 vs. Pitt throughout the year.

Brown has decent NFL RB size at 5′10″, 210 Lbs and showed good speed (4.46) at the combine.  He has great vision and good football instincts with a decent amount of elusiveness.  He has the ability to break off a big play as well as catch the ball out of the backfield.  He won’t be an every down back initially, but he could work his way into that role.  One of his biggest calling cards will be the professionalism and sense of community that he will bring to an NFL franchise.  He is an extremely hard worker and fully believes in giving back to the community.  In today’s economy that will go along way for community relations.
